Weekly round up 22nd to 28th April

With marathons a distant memory, kind of, we were back to local action.

Quayside 5km

On Wednesday athletes, young and old returned to the Quayside for the chance to run quick times, one of various RunThrough events throughout the year. Wednesday’s offering was a 5km where adults had the choice between a A Race and B Race, the junior event was a 3km.

The A Race was stacked with the winner running an incredible time of 14.20.

Jonny Rewcastle continued his impressive form of late to lead the Elswick contingent home, we had 5 runners competing in the A Race all going under 20mins.

It’s great to see Mark McNally competing and running incredible times, his super performance was rewarded with a 1st place in the v75 category in the B Race.

Yorkshire 3 Peaks

John Rippon was in action on Saturday in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks – the race takes on the 3 big peaks that Yorkshire has to offer with runners having to reach each checkpoint within an allotted time to allow them to continue.

This race is not for the fainthearted, it’s a gruelling race and one John done amazing in. He completed the 26 miles of trail, tarmac and hills in an impressive 4 hours 48 minutes.

Huge well done John!

Washington Trail 10km

Paul Taylor took on the muddy Washington Trails – an undulating route not helped by the damp weather we seem to be having.

Paul, with Manchester a distant memory ran a great race to finish 5th v40 on the day.

Well done Paul.
