2026/2027 Club Championship Races

Following the rearranged Signal Relays we can not include the Cowbell in the 2026/2027 Club Championship.

As a result we’ve chosen to revamp the championships for this year by combining road and cross country (XC) races. This reduces race entry costs for those taking part.

The following races will now be included in the club championship – there won’t be a separate road and XC championship for 2026/2027.

Races:

April – Blyth (10k)

30th May – Internal (3km) track event at Wentworth – it’ll be publicised on Facebook and group chats soon.

June – Rest

July – Sunderland (5km)

August – Watergate (5km)*

September – Rest – use for cancellations

October – October NEHL (XC)

November – Heaton Memorial (10km)

December – Saltwell (10km)

January – Rest

February – Sherman Cup/Davision Shield (XC)

March – Alnwick NEHL (XC)

*Watergate has been included due to its popularity in the past, replacing the Cowbell but we’re unsure if Watergate will go ahead as there is planned work scheduled in the park.

2026/2027 Rules:

All athletes must complete at least one of the selected 2026/2027 Club Championship races to be in the running for a prize, however, the more races you complete the more chance you have of winning a prize!

An athletes best two 5km, best two 10km and best one XC race will count towards the overall points.

Runners must wear their Elswick vest in official races. You can wear training tops or whatever is comfortable in an internal club organised run.

Athletes must be aged 18 and over before the first race in order to compete in the championship.  Your age at the date of the first race in the championship will determine your age category for the purpose of scoring.

Categories are in 10 year age groups Senior, V40, V50, V60 and V70 for both men and women.

Point scoring system will continue unchanged, i.e. 15 points for 1st, 14 points for 2nd, etc.

In the event of a tie at the end of the year; the runner with a better ‘head to head’ record across all races will edge the standings. If runners are still tied, the runner who completed the most Club Championship races will edge the standings.

Athletes have one month from the date of a race to query the points allocated to them. You can do this in writing by contacting Mike Russell.

Check progress via our Facebook Members Group.
