Newburn River Run – June

Link to our latest entry information

A six mile mid-week race is held on the second or third Wednesday in June.

Dating back to 1981, it has grown into a very popular summer evening run, typically the race attracts over 300 entries. Starting just beyond Newburn Leisure Centre, the run takes in the old Railway line from Newburn to Wylam passing the birthplace of George Stephenson. Runners then make their way over Wylam Bridge before heading back to the finish which is now on the grounds of the Newcastle University Rowing Club.
