We have 6 new runners to feature in this weekend round up, starting on Wednesday at the popular Clive Cookson 10km.
Clive Cookson 10km
It was another good turn out for this “fast and flat” 10km with 19 of our athletes taking part.
For the first time, Rebecca and Victoria Connelly pulled on the Elswick vest and ran in the same race as proud dad, Martin. The ever improving Vicky ran a 4 minute PB finishing alongside her sister and ahead of former member and uncle Shaun… An amazing night for the Connelly’s!

The men of Elswick had an excellent night picking up the place team prize thanks to amazing runs by Luke Hilliard, finishing 2nd place overall and running a cracking PB. Andy Bell recovering after illness put in a good shift to finish 14th place. David King felt no ill effects from the Pier to Pier to finish 30th and Elijah King had a cracking run finishing 32nd – Luke picked up the prizes for the team.

Mark Turnbull and Nigel Hollier ran well to finish 1st in their age groups with David Walton finishing 2nd in his and happy larry John Rippon clinching 3rd place in his age group with a superb run.
Joe Horner and William Marsden broke 40 mins for the first time with brilliant runs.
Great to see Lisa Allen running the Clive Cookson for the first time and coming away with a great time, Andrea Banner had an impressive run as did Mary Hall and Bella Russell.

Edinburgh Half Marathon
We had an impressive 7 of our athletes running over the border, with 3 making their debuts in the famous weekly round up…
Our first two newbies (sporting their Hartlepool colours) Ben Ward and Sarah Platten ran amazingly well clocking 1.19 and 1.22 – the lure of a pint of Tenents was strong and helped push them onto excellent PBs.

Our 3 debutant and sporting the Elswick vest, Gillian Manford – it really suits you Gillian!
Gillian has been suffering from injury which has impacted her training this year but still managed to cruz round the course in an impressive 1.32.

Caroline Johnson had targeted a sub 2 hour time and breezed round with loads to spare, running 1.52.

Laura Shepherdson’s training has also been hampered by injury this year but with her injury worries put to rest, Laura ran a great race finishing in 1.53.

Mike Steven is back into racing mode and running well, he finished in just under the 2 hour mark clocking 1.59 – good pace control by Mike!

Running her 4th half marathon and 2nd at Edinburgh, Sarah Muparutsa ran another good time finishing in 2.10.

Finishing in 1.35, Roland Brown battled the aches and pains as he ran his 4th race in 12 days and 5th race in May – that’s a man that likes to put those short shorts on and battle it out with the fellow runners. Dave Allen also ran an incredible 1.35 given his current injury – I think it might be time for a rest and get fixed before lacing up those trainers again…

Edinburgh is a cracking course and well supposed for those looking for a nice half marathon outside of Newcastle.
Huge well done to your all!
Edinburgh Marathon
In the marathon we had another debutant in our weekly write up, David Edgar, in his first race for the club ran a very good first marathon finishing in a time of 4.07.
