Yet again Elswick Junior’s turned out in force for the second meeting in the NEYDL series, on a chilly misty day at Whitley Bay. But yet again Elswick Junior’s brought a bit of sunshine to the day
What a difference a day makes the seniors competed 24 hours earlier and the ice cream man had a steady stream of customers, not so many today.
Once again we joined forces with our friends from South Shields. This is great opportunity to try different events and why one of the reasons Simon and Andrea put on Saturday sessions to improve techniques and confidence for events we normally don’t do, with great results.
There were many PBs in the various events and athletes making there Elswick track and Field debuts. One of the great things about Elswick is the support from parents grandparents and coaches etc. We support and cheer everyone on. Just to remind everyone we are in division one, a great achievement,
Division two comprises of Blyth/Alnwick—Blaydon/Wallsend/Gosforth—Chester Lee street/Durham—-Heaton/Tyne Bridge—-Middlesbrough/Houghton/Derwentside
Morpeth—New Marske — Tynedale/Prudhoe. So to be in a league above these clubs is fantastic.
Provisional Results as follows.
North Shields Poly 720 — Gateshead 635.5 — Darlington/Allerton 632 Birtley/J&H/Phoenix 522- S Shields/Elswick 422 – Harrogate 341.5
Sounds like a broken record but thanks once again to Andrea and all the officials who do a remarkable job. Next fixture 30th June at Shildon. The football, and exams will be finished let’s have a good turnout to retain our status in First Division. A lot of hard work has gone on to get us there that’s what we train for.
