Weekly round up 20th May to 26th May

British Master Open Road Relay Championships

Starting the round up with another relay, we had two teams traveling down to the Mallory Racing Circuit just outside of Leicester for the relays. Teams of three all running three miles.

Our v55 team was led out by Mark Turnbull (17:52) who ran a strong leg to get the guys into contention, handing over to Simon Allen (18:44) who had a storming run, Mike Russell (18:51) anchored the team home to finish in an impressive 7th place. Well done fellas – great running! 👏

Our ladies section fielded a strong v45 team. Led out by Hazel Bough (18:45) who ran the 2nd quickest time of the day to put the team in pole place, Felicity Smith (19:48) was next up who ran the 4th quickest time to keep the team in a commanding place, Justina Heslop (17:31) anchored the team home recording the fastest time in the day and secure first place. Well done to the new v45 British Masters Relay Champions! 👏

It would be good to get more teams involved next year so keep an eye out for the rally calls – teams consist of 3-6 people depending on age group.

Wild Deer Whinlatter Trail Races

Rich Houghton opted for the 10km option and I can’t blame him – 10k around the Whinlatter is enough to make you cry…

Rich certainly had his big boy pants on (first time anyone has ever said that) running superbly to finish in 3rd place.

A cracking running by Rich, great to see you back running well.

Run Northumberland Alnwick Trail Races

With four distances to choose from, our athletes completed in the 5km, 10km and half marathon runs.

Caroline Johnson, Jeff Emmerson and Andy Middleton all running the 10km. Melissa Bateson ran the half marathon route, great prep for her trail race in June… And in the 5km, Cate Johnson was running.

Well done everyone!

Times are still to be published.

Edinburgh Half Marathon

We had four athletes heading north of the border for the Edinburgh Half Marathon – the weather not favourable for running with wind and rain hitting the runners.

All four ran cracking times despite the weather though…

Danny Spoor was home first running 1.19, Simon Barnes pipped Debbie Spoor over the line, both running 1.43 and Sarah Muparutsa ran a brilliant race to come home in 2.10z

Amazing running by everyone!

La Course du Château de Vincennes

Further afield, Daniel Nettle was in action in what looks to be a lovely run. And thanks to my limited french, I found his results…
