Weetslade Virtual Relay Results

Relays come fast and quick at this time of year and it was then the turn of the virtual Weetslade Relays hosted by Claremont Runners.

This 4k event could be run from Sat 20th June to Wed 24th June starting and finishing in roughly the same place. The rules stated that each team of 3 must contain at least 1 lady and 1 veteran 35+ (can be the same person). Thanks to Scott Brady for arranging the teams that had to be submitted prior to the event starting.

In total 186 complete teams took part and Elswick (who normally have a pretty good outing at the relays!) came second (40.16) but only by 13s to a Morpeth team (40.03). The Elswick team consisted of Amy Fuller 13.58 who was the quickest lady overall, Andrew Ball 12.56 who was overall the quickest veteran and Steven Robertson 13.22. Mike Russell 13.48, Andrea Banner 15.51, and Scott Brady 12.59 who ran for the B team finished 4th. In 20th position were the C team of Jonathan Rewcastle 15.12, Robyn Naylor 17.30, and Richard Houghton 13.48. Robert Emson 16.06, Robb Young 16.06 and Lindsay Grant 16.48 finished in 40th position, followed closely in 42nd by Felicity Smith 17.06, Simon Allen 16.14, and Paul Jones 15.43. Our team in 47th position consisted of Paul Taylor 16.41, Robert Lambert 16.47, and Joanne Brown 16.12. Our next team of Steven Naylor 19.29, Stephen Curry 20.01 and Nichola Conlon 16.30 ran home in 91st position. Louise Allen 19.19, Amy Brown 20.29 and Debbs Wilmot 21.11 were next in at 129th. Peter Sloan 15.51 ran a solo effort in our incomplete team.

25 runners turned out from our club for this virtual event, which is brilliant, well done to each and every one of you.
