Weekly Round Up 2 October to 8 October

We didn’t see the sun that was promised but this didn’t stop plenty of events going ahead.

Yeltholm Shepherds Show Fell Race:

John Ripon, in his Northern Fell Runner colours took on the Yeltholm Shepherds Show Fell Race. A tough fell race with 1,300 ft of elevation. John ran well finishing 11th overall and was part of the first team home.

Kielder Marathon Weekend:

An excellent and well organised weekend of events sees competitors take on the Run Bike Run (26 mile loop of the reservoir) and 10km trail race on the Saturday followed by the Marathon, Half Marathon and Junior races on the Sunday.

I’m not aware of anyone competing in the RBR; we did have four amazing runners taking part in the 10km. It’s a picturesque route with a couple of hills thrown in – well done to our fab four that braved those hills and were rewarded with excellent times.

Kielder 10km results

In the half marathon; we had one runner taking to the start line in Jen Clements. Jen, back in the Elswick vest for the first time in a few years ran a superb race to claim a half marathon PB – an amazing result given the challenging terrain. Well done!

Kielder Half results

In the marathon, we had our lone ranger in Mike Steven. Always up for a challenge, the longer the better for Mike who ran a great race finishing 3rd in his age category.
