Weekly race round up – 31st March to 6th April

A lovely sunny weekend for our athletes this weekend.

Allendale Challenge

A bucket list race for some, the Allendale Challenge is Considered by many to be one of the toughest challenge walks around, The Allendale Challenge is organised by North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team to raise valuable funds for the team. The 26 mile course is always very popular, selling out every year, and should be a “must do” event for any keen walker or fell runner.

Undeterred, new members, Joe and Andy Green took on the course and posted fantastic times. Joe finishing in 15th place and Andy not far behind in 17th.

Cracking effort fellas!

Blyth 10km

It was great turnout for our 2nd Club Championship race of the season with 28 of our members taking part.

Jonny Rewcastle was our first home in an impressive time of 36 mins securing 38th place.

Imogen Bungay continues her return to fitness with an excellent run, finishing 1st senior lady, a cracking run by Imogen.

Big shout out to Aiden Jones and Sydney Bungay who ran impressive times on their 10km debut.

Well done to David Walton and Susanne Stephenson who both finished 3rd place in their age categories and picking up prizes.

Shout out to Roland Brown for getting through today, a dodgy gut meant he had to take it steady.

I’m sure there were plenty PBs today; Gary Young and Dave Jones continued their impressive form. Kate Taylor knocked a good minute off her time from last year.

Northumberland Duathlon

The Northumberland Duathlon acts as a world qualifier, and we had 6 athletes looking to book places…

David Bell was the overall winner of the sprint event thanks to his brilliant 5km pace in the two races.

Only 7 seconds separated Andy and Adam Bell in the standard distance – I love this family rivalry but not sure if Adam would say the same… Andy outrunning Adam to finish in 13th and Adam 14th, 4th and 5th in their age group.

In the super vet category, Mark Turnbull posted a cracking time to secure 3rd place in his age group. Mike Russell finished the day in 9th and Rob Lambert 20th.

Cracking effort fellas!
