Watergate Forest Park is located on the site of the former Watergate colliery. Following reclamation work in the 1990’s the site has been transformed and now provides a haven for wildlife and a great recreational site for visitors. A series of trails and paths take you through woodland, around the lake and through wildflower meadows. The site opened in 2000.
Not so sure about Watergate, more like a flood gate of Elswick juniors at this combined of under 11/13/15 race approx over 2K. On a lovely evening for racing, Elswick had 17 athletes taking part in the junior races, by far the biggest contingent of athletes of all clubs on the evening.
Also quite a few of our older juniors were taking part in the senior 5K event we are sure Ben will write this up on the senior report.
We had a few juniors making their debuts in an Elswick vest so naturally nerves were on show. However this did not stop our juniors putting in fantastic performances.
