Race Round Up 12th July – 18th July

Motivating to see fantastic runs during a very warm week! Keep up the awesome work everyone as races and relays are coming back thick and fast.

Just before we look at what happened this week here is a brief note regarding Park Runs.

With the amount of Parkruns in our area and across the UK that our runners could potentially take part in I feel this is going to be too complex to keep on top on a weekly basis. Therefore, I won’t be including these in our weekly roundups! However, if anything crops up that deserves a special mention then I shall look to include these, but I may need your help in spotting those that deserve that shout out.

I hope you understand however if anyone did have any ideas on how to capture Parkruns I would welcome your input.

Man vs Lakes – Starting in Morecambe Bay and finishing at Coniston

Taken from the website ratrace.com: “The classic Man vs Lakes adventure run is like nothing you will have experienced. You will enter the Lake District by striking out with an audacious and surreal crossing of the quicksand’s of Morecambe Bay, before heading north through mountainous country on a rollercoaster running route that brings you to the foot of England’s most famous Lake. You then proceed higher into the hills and forests of the area and immerse yourself into the Lake itself, tackling short wades, swims, * slides, jumps and an amazingly bold floating assault course. A trademark Man Vs “Vertical Kilometre” will push those quads to breaking point and help to rack up a whopping 4200ft of ascent before the final push takes you further in to the heart of Lakeland for a serene kayak loop on Lake Coniston just before you cross that finish line”.

A birthday present for Joanne! This epic encounter was always intended to be a group activity for the trio of ladies listed below. What a fantastic experience and laugh this would have been, its inspiring to see our club runners taking on something out of their comfort zone.

Great work ladies!
