Sedgefield 27th January 2024
Someone said “do you fancy a a day at Sedgefield races” fine we said however when we arrived there were no sign of any horses just Elswick thoroughbreds.
It’s very rare that the Northerns come this far north, so it was an ideal chance to take advantage of a race relatively close to home.
As usual all the top clubs were taking part.
That’s not to say Elswick are not getting back to being amongst them. This race along with the North Easterns in December are the main races taken into consideration for selection for the Inter-counties which this year is being held at Nottingham on the 9th March.
The selectors meet today to finalise the teams, so keep an eye on your inbox. The organisation looked superb with plenty of parking at the racecourse. The course itself was fairly firm and flat over a wide expanse not so good for viewing. The ground was good considering all the rain we have had; just a couple of muddy patches.
The weather was good if not a bit cool at times. As usual Andrea brought along the tent, which is a great addition, where the juniors, seniors and supporters can congregate all adding to the day for a coming together as a club.
