North East Harrier League – 26th November 2022
Once again Elswick’s hardy juniors donned their cross country spikes on what is probably the toughest course of the season, not like you see on televised events with manicured fields with the odd log thrown in.
Elswick had 35 juniors representing the club and putting their training to good use. This is what traditionalists call a “real cross country course “with hills, mud and long grass.
The day started quite pleasant weather wise, however as the day progressed the the wind started to build and the temperatures seemed to fall.
Last year it was storm Arwen, this year it was storm Elswick with yet again fantastic performances from our juniors. One of the few clubs to have full teams in all races.
Great to see enthusiastic support around the course from coaches, parents and grandparents.
Once again thanks to all the officials who are first there and last to leave. Also thanks to Richard Houghton (Mens Captain) for arriving early to put up the tent.
Next race for NEHL is at South Shields – the Sherman Cup/Davison Shield. Same bib numbers but no packs with everyone running off scratch. We need as many juniors out for this race as all the age groups from under 13 to seniors/vets are all included for points for the cup/shield.
