After a dismal summer the first cross country of the season was a different matter, it felt like summer had actually come rather than autumn.
Although Elswick Juniors were not out in quantity they were certainly out in quality. The “magnificent seven” putting on their Elswick vests and representing themselves and the club with great pride and determination.
First race of the day was the under 11 race and making his Elswick debut was Harry Robson with an excellent 17th position in 4.35. Harry has only been at the club for two weeks and is one of our younger juniors.
Next up was the under 13 boys: 3rd Dominic Kelso 10.51. Closely followed by Nicholas Surtees-Brown 11.15 in 5th place. Well done lads. We are looking forward to these two close friends having some good tussles over the season.
In the under 13 girls race first Elswick junior home was 6th Millie Robson 12.27. Backed up by 8th place Ayla Blight 12.29, both first year under 13 girls, so looking good for the future. Great running girls.
Last junior race of the morning was the Under 17 Girls race, Erin Blight 11.22 leading the way in first place – fantastic! Next home was Hannah Waterhouse in 8th place in a time of 12.40. Same again, Erin and Hannah are first year under 17 girls.
All in all a great morning’s running from these Elswick juniors.
