Juniors Report – Alnwick Cross Country on 29/02/20. Leap Year running at it’s very best!

After a few cancellations cross country running got underway again, at the pastures in Alnwick with the glorious setting of Alnwick castle in the background. This event was hosted by Alnwick Harriers, and yet again was superbly organised with the help of all the NEHL officials.

The course naturally had a few heavy mud patches, along with the strong wind and the odd heavy shower racing commenced. Elswick had 34 juniors taking the starting line in all age groups.

First race of the day was the under 11 boys, and making his debut in the harrier league finishing in 55th George Russell 5.57.
Next up was the under 11 girls – 17th Ava Jones 5.05 – 25th Sienna Keogan – 5.25 26th Evie Elliot – 5.25 29th Zara Bungay – 5.29 35th Hope Henderson – 5.51 39th Anaya Bhullar – 5.59.
Under 13 boys 15th Sam Allison – 15.40 (fast pack) 29th Jake Stroud – 16.57 (fast pack) 36th Charlie Jackson – 19.20 42nd Jack Haycock – 21.21.
The under 13 boys were 8th team on the day, and are 8th team in the season so far.
Under 13 girls 3rd Poppy Wilde – 16.03 (fast pack) 16th Charlotte Naughton – 18.43 35th Ruby Russell – 19.58 39th Louisa Hamilton – 18.31 (fast pack) 43rd Bella Russell 18.44 (fast pack) 45th Sophie Henderson – 18.49 (fast pack) 48th Sydney Bungay 19.14 (fast pack) 49th Bryony Wilkinson – 20.56 50th Hannah Waterhouse (despite running most of the race with only one shoe on) – 21.00 57th Ciara Telford – 25.01 58th Keira Bairstow 25.37. The under 13 girls were 3rd,10th and 11th teams on the day, and are 1st team in the season so far.
Under 15 boys looking a bit lonely on the starting line 39th Will Brown – 19.34.
The under 15 boys are 12th team in the season so far.
Under 15 girls 20th Imogen Bungay – 16.57 (fast pack) 37th Maelona Redhead 25.08.
The under 15 girls are 7th team in the season so far.
Under 17 boys 10th Kieron Dixon – 17.18 21st Thomas Milburn – 18.28 23rd Max Young – 18.39. The under 17 boys were 6th team on the day, and are 7th team in the season so far.
Under 17/20 girls 4th Emily Allison – 19.34 7th Charley Lee – 19.48 11th Marissa O’Rourke – 21.19 19th Suzy Fielding – 20.22 (fast pack) 20th Hannah Tumia – 20.23 (fast pack) 23rd Imogen King – 27.49. The under 17/20 girls were 2nd and 5th team on the day and are 1st team in the season so far.

There are now two rearranged races in the NEHL series. The next one is on Saturday 14th March at the Lambton estate we would like a good turnout .
