Once again these races returned to the quayside with the splendid backdrop of our fabulous bridges. By all reports the pride of them all, the Tyne Bridge is getting a long overdue lick of paint starting on Monday.
In sweltering conditions on Saturday,16 of our juniors put on their Elswick vests (some with Ponteland football top’s on) and suntan lotion on to take part.
It’s great to see so many Elswick juniors putting their training to good use.
Well supported by parents grandparents and coaches.
This is often commented on by the athletics fraternity in the North East. Although it’s called the Great North Run this does not stop top junior talent from all over the country participating, with hundreds on the starting lines.
It’s quite difficult to break down each individual wave so here are the times in order and age group places, to the best of our knowledge.
