I arrived early to take in the grounds at Wynyard Hall and do a decent warm up. I ran this race 2 years ago and remember it being a tough course through the forest, by the lake, some path, lots of mud and a few decent hills for good measure! The course was 2 x 2 mile loops and then an extra 2 miles stuck on at the end. The race started well with a decent pace but the leading group soon pulled away and I was in a mini group battling for 5th place. Miles 4-6 was where those around me gradually dropped off the pace and I pulled out a 10 second gap to take 5th place and the V40 prize in a time of 36:08 which is an improvement of over 4 minutes from 2 years ago! This was a tough but enjoyable trail race for those that enjoy being off road and highly recommended!
