Weekly roundup 19th June – 25th June

June tends to be a quieter month for racing but it hasn’t stopped our runners getting find new places to complete 😊

We start in Sheffield where John Thompson ran 24km around Sheffield, described on the website “as a multi-stage trail running experience” and “an exhilarating running journey showing you some of the very best trails and parkland through the UK’s greenest city, Sheffield!”

John didn’t pick the easiest of runs on the weekend of the summer solstice and one of the hottest this year.  Well done John!

We also had two runners taking to the hills, Jonny Lowes and John Rippon in the Cheviots running the Windy Gyle on the England/Scotland border – a lovely route with a very steep initial climb. Well done guys! (to my knowledge results aren’t published online for these runs).

Finally, we end with Mike Steven who took part in The UK’s biggest 24 hour relay race at Bramham Park, Leeds. The 8km lap is described as “Experience 8km of scenic beauty as you leave the tents behind and cross the start line with fellow thrill-seekers. Along the course, catch sights of landmarks like the Lead Lads Temple, Roundhouse, and the historic Bramham Park Estate. Bramham Park, dating back to 1698, boasts a stunning landscape and hosts many prestigious events. The festival atmosphere will accompany you throughout the race. You’ll find it easier to begin the race knowing it will end with a refreshing beer.”

From Mike himself “I did a great event at the weekend, it was the Endure 24 at Leeds – a 24hr race….. We did it as a team of 5 and managed 28 laps (5miles per lap) ..I managed 6 laps. It was extremely hot and only relented a little bit in the early hours of the morning! Quite a different event which I would recommend.” onto the Chevy Chase next weekend, you certainly pick the hard events – well done Mike
