Weekly round up 26th August to 1st September

It was disappointing we were not able to field a adults team for the Farringdon Relays relays this weekend. Next year let’s get your names down and support these local races

Internal 6 mile Club Run – River Run

We had 39 runners taking part in Tuesdays internal club champion run.

Jonathan Owston and Louise Allen got us underway at 6.50pm, Tom then released the rest in 5 minute intervals with Luke Hillard being the last to go at 7.25pm.

The evening went smoothly and that was helped by everyone guesstimating their finishing times which helped to calculate the starting times/groups for everyone.

It was Jayne who was first to cross the line, then we had a steady stream of runners sprinting to that finish line – well done to all our runners!

A huge thank you to Tom and his band of helpers. Chris and David on the gates, our team of timekeepers Tom, Peter, Scott and Danny. And not forgetting our photographer, Michelle, who managed to snap some canny sunsetting pictures. Things like this can’t happen without our helpers so we’re all very grateful to those that gave their time to support it.

So many thanks to you all!

Middlesbrough 10km

Back in their hometown, Harry and Abi took on the Middlesbrough 10km. It’s amazing to see how far they’ve come having started their running journey in our None to Run group and now regularly running parkruns and bigger events.

David Hodgson was also inaction at Middlesbrough and all three ran very well despite the early start.

Well done.

Geordie Man 70.3 Distance

With a whole host of events to pick from, including the full (140.6 miles) or half (70.3 miles) distances.

Arabella Pearce and Jonny Lowes along with their teammate from Tyne Tri combined to make a formidable Geordie Man team over the 70.3 distance.

Bella was on the swim leg, her knee troubles put to the back of her mind, it worked as she powered through the water at incredible rate of knots. Scott was on the bike leg, a strong cyclist put the team in a good position. Jonny took the run leg, suffering from injury, he really did take one for the team running amazingly well to bring the team home in 2nd position.

Former member, Amy Fuller was also in action completing the three disciplines in 42nd position overall.

Well done all!
