Weekly round up 1st April to 7th April

What a busy weekend for our members with runners travelling all over to get their running fix…

Prudhoe’s Easter Egg Run.

Surprisingly there was no Steve Robertson for this one – the lure of chocolate wasn’t great enough this time round… We did have Imogen King running her first race of the weekend and rewarded with a nice easter egg at the end…

Blyth 10km

Our club championships started of with a bang, despite the high winds our runners were out in force (28 of our lads and lasses) with some very impressive runs.

It’s brilliant to see lots of new names on the results sheet and flying the Elswick flag proudly some of which running 10km for the first time.

Imogen Bungay continued her impressive form, finishing 2nd lady on the day. Our ladies also picked up the 1st female team prize – well done ladies.

We had numerous individual age category prizes with Tony, John, Mike and Nigel in the money for the men and our women’s section went one better with 5 ladies picking up cash; Imogen lead them home, followed by Hazel, Felicity, Susanne and Debbie all being rewarded for their impressive runs – don’t go spending it all on chocolate!

Sheffield Half Marathon.

Roland Brown took a trip to Sheffield as part of his marathon preparations – Mike Russell had promised a flat and scenic route with perfect weather conditions so why would Roland refuse….

The scenic bit was about right but Mike might have to share some of his Blyth winnings to make up for the hills Roland endured…

Despite the hurricane and hills he managed a cracking time of 1.37, a good confidence boost ahead of London.

3 Village 10 mile.

Luke, fond of a car journey headed over to Cumbria for the 3 village 10 miler.

It was worth the last minute entry as he finished an impressive 2nd overall in a time of 57 minutes.

Northumberland Duathlon.

We also had some of our multi sporters in action today at the Northumberland Duathlon at Druridge Bay – yup running is not enough for these guys they want to jump on a bike in a hurricane 🤯

Amy Fuller has a great event finishing 32 (5th lady) in a time of 2.22.59.

Rob Lambert wasn’t too far behind clocking a time of 2.42.04 finishing 66th overall.
