Our weekly report includes last week races – sorry I didn’t get a chance to do last weeks report.
Blyth Sands
On the freezing Sunday morning, Andy Middleton and Jeff Emerson took part in the unique Blyth Sand race. An age category staggered start where runners take off along the beach around a way point and back again to another way point. The race is roughly 5 miles on the beach depending on the tides. Runners often end up in the sea at some point 🥶
Well done to Andy and Jeff for braving the elements!
It’s a brilliant race for everyone so look out for the entries going live next year.

North East Cross Country Championships
Last year we had the honour of hosting the event, this year we had the pleasure of running it.
Back at Temple Park, a familiar XC venue as it’s home of the Sherman Cup/Davison Shield and many junior races. As familiar as it is, we’ve never been treated to the conditions underfoot as we were on Saturday!
The juniors done a great job of churning the route up ready for the men who in turn made it even more difficult for the women.
I knew the conditions were going to be tough when i saw young Callum running his second lap with one shoe missing – hats off for continuing!

Despite the conditions we done very well, with our men’s team finishing 10th overall and women 7th.
Massive thank you to Andrea for organising and registering everyone and continuing to bring the team tent to all the venues.

Malaga Marathon
Over to warmer climates, Rob Lambert was back in Spain, home from home for Rob, competing in the Malaga marathon.
Rob has earned his turkey dinner and even a pudding this year after running 4.16.21 – great run Rob!

Telford 10km
Also away from Newcastle, Amy Fuller ran the Telford 10km. Amy is now running 1st claim with Kenilworth and represented the Midlands on this occasion. Telford 10km looks a strong field with the top 50 finishers all running under 30 minutes over the 10km distance. Amy ran a very good race, finishing with a time of 36.27 and her Midlands team coming 1st on the day.
