Langdale Half Marathon

Fresh from their impressive PBs at the GNR Mick Wilson and Steve Dobson had a trip over the lakes to take on the undulating Langdale half marathon. Not for the faint hearted, the run takes you up what feels like near vertical hill where you see the very picturesque Blea Tarn.

Starting and finishing in the Langdale Valley, they would have been rewarded by the spectacular scenery throughout, the Langdale Valley is a beautiful place to visit (not necessarily do a half marathon), one of my favourites in the lakes.

The lads ran an impressive 1.35.

Ironman World Championships – Nice

The championships will return to Kona on a single day next year but that’ll have to wait as this year they’re in France.

Mark Turnbull, qualified for his third World Championships and second at Nice. He’s been in fine form this year this year and was looking forward to taking on the Nice course once again.

Mark was out the water in a time 1 hour 26 minutes and in 174th in his age category and with a swift transition took to the bike. He made up time on his competitors (131 places!!!), finishing the bike section in a time of 6 hours 15 minutes moving up to 43rd in his age group. Onto the run, he continued to move extremely well flying past people on the run leg as he ran an amazing marathon time in 3:32:21 (quicker than my marathon PB) finishing in 18th place.

His overall time of 11:25 is an amazing achievement and beats his time of 11:37 that he set in 2023 – well done Mark!!
