Weekly race round up – 16th December to 22nd December.

The festive season didn’t put some of our runners off competing this weekend…

Before heading onto our races, I’d like to congratulate the 13 graduates from our None to Run programme which finished on Thursday. Several celebrated by completing Tynegreen Parkrun on Saturday. We wish you all luck on your running journey and hope to see you in club sessions soon.

Our next programme starts mid January so keep an eye on our socials and spread the word to see if any family or friends want to take part.

Saltwell 10km

We had 9 athletes taking on the famous Saltwell 10km, one of the oldest road races in England.

Luke Hilliard was in fine form leading the Elswick charge and posting his quickest time over the course finishing 10th overall. Justina Heslop had a great run, finishing 2nd lady overall.

Susanne Stephenson picked up more prize money, adding to her impressive 2024 haul, Susanne finished 1st in her age category. Nigel Hollier also topped the podium in his age category.

Chopwell Woods Christmas Trail Races

With 3 distances to chose between, 3 of our athletes were in action.

Dave Hodgson fresh from his Saltwell 10km run, took on the 8 mile route, two races in two days is a great effort. Dave was joined by Paul Taylor, equally impressive given Paul was at our Christmas party on the Saturday night.

In the 4 mile race, Lily Roxburgh finish 2nd in her age category. Great performance!
