Weekly race round up – 10th March to 16th March

A reminder that we have our final XC fixture at Druridge Bay on 23rd March.

Cowbell 5km Run

Our 2025 road club championship season started with a bang with just short of 40 Elswick Harriers taking part and helping raise valuable funds for Dementia UK.

It was great to see some new faces, some returning after long spells out and the regulars.

We were treated to prefect running conditions and this showed as everyone posted impressive times. Luke was our first home, finishing 4th overall, not slowed down by wearing his shorts inside out… not sure if that trend will catch on Luke!

Sophie was back in action for the first time after giving birth to little Leo in 2024, Leo and Luke both cheering mammy home who fishing 1st female overall.

Well done to all that ran, I know there was several impressive PBs on the day!

I’m sure Mike is going to love working out who scored what in the club champs!

Alnwick Trail Races

Andy and Jeff were our only runners in this Wild Deer event – a beautiful but challenging route through the trails of Hulne Park.

Andy and Jeff are fond of the difficult races and no doubt cheered on by Rich Houghton were spurred on to complete the 10km course in good times.

CTC Duathlon

We had 4 of our athletes completing in the CTC Duathlon in Carlisle.

All 4 featured highly in their age groups. It looks like there was a canny little battle between brothers Adam and Andy Bell, with Andy taking the bragging rights home as he secured 3rd place in his age group with Adam in 4th.

Mike Russell, fresh from his Cowbell 5km the day before was also in action and also on the podium. Mike finished in 3rd place in the v50 category.

And in the v60 category, Rob Lambert secured an impressive 3rd place finish.

Huge congratulations to you all!

The Kingdom of Northumbria Ultra

Flashback to last weekend, when Dave Allan took on the gruelling Kingdom of Northumbria Ultra, a little 33 mile jaunt along the Northumberland Coast!

With only a few weeks notice Dave smashed the run completing it in 5 hours 10 minutes and finished 3rd in his age group.

A good test for The Wall later in the year!
