What did Tom Hanks say in the film Field of Dreams:

“Build it and they will come”.

The Junior coaches and parent helpers certainly did that. With 58 Junior athletes turning out and wearing their Elswick vest with pride in the opening fixture of the North East Harrier League.

 

After the amount of rain we have had lately the sun certainly shone down on us in what a glorious day weather wise and performance wise also. Thankfully Richard and Ann Lee brought along the tent and assembled it. Claire and Jan had the task of sorting and giving out 58 numbers.

With Rob and Claire warming up the juniors and Lee advising on the course routes, everything went very smoothly. The first race got underway; results as follows:

Under 11 Boys 10th Liam C 6.24 ,60th Adam M 7.29.

Under 15 Girls 7th Imogen B 10.33, 20th Lauren S 11.23,35th Isla C 12.03, 58th Jasmin B 13.43, 65th Maelona R 16.29 5th team.

Under 17 Boys 24th Kieron D 20.41, 36th Max Y 22.29, 38th Tom M 22.59. 7th team.

Under 17/20 15th Emily A 23.14, 22nd Charley L 23.47, 29th Suzy F (fast pack) 21.57, 31st Hannah T 22.04(fast pack) 41st Kerry-Ann S 27.54,42nd Aimee B 29.01,44th Imogen K 29.46.4th and 6th team places.

There were loads of comments about the amount of Elswick Juniors and also the great team spirit they have.

Remember these are the races that decide who get trophies at the Club Championships.
