NEMAA Open Cross Country Championships @ Rising Sun Sports Ground, Wallsend.

The Inter-Area Cross Country returned after a two-year gap with record entries! This event is for teams of individuals from all 11 of the BMAF Area Clubs to pit their strengths against each other over challenging terrain for national victory! However, there was only 21 entries across the board from runners out of area.

Organised by Heaton Harriers & AC in conjunction with NEMAA this event is ran on grassland with three climbs on each lap of the 3 laps with some gravel & rocks thrown in which the spikes were not keen on. A brilliant course with the 1st incline being the most challenging with then some fast sections and only 2 stretches were the strong winds attacked your race number.

Runners seemed to love the long fast stretch at the end of each lap where you could put your foot down and enjoy running fast. As always as of late Elswick Harriers enjoyed yet another successful day as you will read in the results below.

Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn Trail Marathon

A full race where its mandatory to carry a map and a route description along with compulsory kit containing waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, foil blanket, spare long sleeved base layer, headtorch/torch and 500ml of water/sports drink. So that sets the scene and then with the wet and windy weather thrown in we must admire David for taking on this very challenging event with an elevation gain over 6000ft which he always seems to be motivated for.
