Report by Ken and Jan

This season has gone so quickly and suddenly it’s the last fixture in the NEYDL for the season; this was held at Churchill playing fields at Whitley Bay along with our joint team from South Shields.
We started the meeting in 3rd place just one point off second place.
The weather has not been kind this season for athletes and spectators. This meeting was different, with the ice cream man making a brisk trade.
Our juniors stood up to the warm sunshine gaining lots of PBs, and trying lots of different disciplines. Over the season we have had a total of 39 athletes taking part, a few making their Elswick debuts, so well done everyone who took part and the support team of parents and relatives who came to cheer our juniors on.
Most of you can put your track spikes away for the summer, and those of you going on holiday especially to warmer climes just give training a rest for a couple of weeks.
As things stand next year there will be a change in the age groups for these events, however we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
As usual there are too many names and events to mention so please see the link below for provisional results. We finished second on the day. Also second after four meetings. These are final league tables:
1st Blyth/Alnwick 32 points – 2nd Elswick/South Shields 25 points – 3rd Chester le street/Durham 24 points – 4th New Marske 22 points – 5th Blay/Wallsend/Gos 19 points – 6th Morpeth 13 points – 7th Tynedale/ Prudhoe 9 points – 8th Heaton/Tyne Bridge 4 points.
It won’t be long before we change track for the mud and hills (cross country). Jan will be taking names in August for the NEHL which starts at the end of September. We will let you know the provisional dates shortly.
