After the joys of the track and field, Elswick juniors once again put all their training to the test with a magnificent turnout of 40 athletes across the junior cross country races.
With tremendous results.
As usual the first race of the season can be quite manic sorting the race numbers out, as we do not get the numbers until the morning of the race. However everything seemed to go smoothly.
Once again there were a few nervous athletes and parents/grandparents, which is to be expected, but lots of smiling faces at the end.
For those of you who checked the weather forecast, how wrong can they be? No rain in the forecast; this was certainly not the case, especially in the early races . With heavy downpours the course was quite muddy in places. This did not stop our hardy juniors doing themselves and the club proud.
It is great when coaches from other clubs come up to you and comment about the number of junior athletes we have and how they all support each other.
