After many trials and tribulations last year and two cancellations due to excessive rainfall causing car parks to be waterlogged, the first harrier league fixture of 2024/25 got underway at Thornley Hall Farm. For reasons previously mentioned, this fixture was pulled forward to help accommodate parking.
On this note it should be recognised what tremendous work the NEHL committee do to get these races on.
With it being the first race of the season the pressure was on Jan, Andrea and Mary to sort the race numbers with over fifty juniors having signed up.
However, with an early arrival at the venue the ladies came up with the goods and everything seemed to go to plan.
After the weather we have had, it was nice to see some glorious September sunshine. It seems this course is a bit like “marmite” – athletes seem to either love it or hate it.
This course has it all – long grass, hills and mud.
As usual for the first meeting, nerves were on show particularly for athletes making their debuts – this includes parents and grandparents, who by the way were out in force to support the juniors. Some fantastic performances – well done everyone.
