On what was the 4th Running of the Birtley Junior Cross Country relays Elswick Juniors had another very successful day. The race was held in the grounds of Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy. On a quite undulating course in places. Although the temperatures weren’t bad and no rain, the dreaded wind was in attendance . This event is growing in attendance and was excellently hosted by Birtley Harriers. Elswick had eight teams of three across the age groups, who all performed well.
The first race for the Elswick squad was in the Under 11 Girls 1st leg Lois Boot 6.33 (making her first debut in an Elswick vest) 2nd leg Zara Bungay 6.46 3rd leg Sienna Keogan 6.49 They came in 12th Team .
Under 13 Boys 1st leg Elliot Kelso 7.23 2nd leg Jake Boot 845 ( also making his Elswick debut) 3rd leg Charlie Jackson 7.43. They came at in 14th Team.
Under 13 Girls we had Three teams out in this age group well done girls.
A team 1st leg Lucy Milburn 6.33 2nd leg Louisa Hamilton 6.54 3rd leg Poppy Wilde 6.32 They came in 3rd team.
B team 1st leg Sydney Bungay 7.33 Charlotte Naughton 7.36 3rd leg Erin Blight 7.06. They came in 9th Team.
C Team 1st leg Hannah Waterhouse 8.14 2nd leg Evie Reed 8.21 3rd leg Ruby Russell 7.36 . They came in 14th Team.
Under 15/17 Boys 1st leg Jake Robertson 11.17 2nd leg Ben Patrick 11.36 3rd leg Kieran Dixon 10.43 they came in 11th Team.
We had two teams in the under 15/17 race A Team 1st leg Suzy Fielding 11.55 2nd leg Imogen Bungay 11.13 3rd leg Hannah Tumia 11.39 They came in 3rd Team.
B Team 1st leg Charley Lee 12.11 2nd leg Isla Cardno 13.42 3rd leg Emily Allison 12.03 They came in 7th Team.
Well done to all those who turned out to represent Elswick Juniors.
Also a big well done to Poppy old and Poppy Wilde who represented the NE at the National Inter-counties yesterday a fantastic achievement to be selected .
Saturday 14th March next NE Harrier League event at Lambton Estate hope to see a good turnout.
