Sunderland 5km Races
Hosted by Sunderland Harriers, they offer junior races as well as adults ones so it’s a busy evening for the organisers!
The race has always been popular with our members and we had 20 taking part, all of which collected valuable club championship points.
Looking at the times, i’m sure many ran PBs or close to it over the Silkworth route.

Northumerlandia Trail 10km
One of our member’s took on the hilly and muddy Northumberlandia Trail race last Saturday.
Well done Claire Shane, a great run and time around a very challenging course.
Northeast Senior Development League
Sunday saw the the final fixture of the league season, with all to play for down at Shildon.
Eric has been brilliant rally the troops ahead of each fixture, his hard work has paid off as we’ve had good representation in all fixtures.
It was another brilliant display from our members who secured our place in the top division for next season.
Huge thank you to Eric and well done to everyone that has competed over the 4 fixtures.
Newcastle Half & 10km
We had 3 of our members competing in the first Newcastle half and 10km starting and finishing at Kingston Park.
Stephen Dobson ran a brilliant race in the 10km to finish in 10th place overall and showing off his canny quads!
Jonathan Rewcastle and Debbie Spoor took on half and also ran superb races, Jonathan finishing in 9th overall and Debbie claiming 2nd in her age category.
Brilliant running all!
Lakeland Trail – Ambleside Half
Jonny Lowe’s was back in the hills, this time over in Ambleside for another challenging run.
Brilliant running from Jonny who has put some miles in of late – enjoy your holidays!
Hexham 10km
We had 3 members running Run Nations Hexham 10km through the week.
Luke was on top form retaining his title on this undulating course. Jayne and Jeff also running great times over the course.
Well done all!
Durham City Runs
Another mid week race saw 4 of our members take an evening trip to Durham for the Events of the North 5km and 10km runs.
The event offers picturesque and rewarding routes through the city. Mark running in the 5km, Rich, Nigel and Mike opting for 10km.

Northumberland Coastal Run
Only two of our members ran Sundays famous and picturesque coastal run – starting on Beadnal Beach, the run takes you down the England Coastal path to Alnmouth Beach.
If you have a running bucket list, this race has to be on it!
Well done to Roland and Andy for taking on the 14 mile route.
Run Northumberland Super Fast Runs
With 3 distances to choose from, the Run Northumberland have runs suited for all.
Daniel and Melissa opted for the 10km option and ran very well on the ‘open to all elements’ course.
I’m not aware of anyone else running at the time of posting this as results haven’t been published.

Shout out to members…
Massive congratulations to Maxine who completed her 50th Parkrun. Several members joined Maxine to celebrate he achievement.
Huge thank you to Andrea and Mike for organising the now annual Elswick Friendly Games. Despite the weather everyone had a great time.
Big shout out to Luke Hillard who organised the Wylam Fun 5km with all proceeds going to the Tynedale Hospice.

**Updated 19/3/24: internal 10 mile and 5km switched so we can utilise the light nights and run the 5km on the closed section of OneNE. The 10 miler will now take place in October on a weekend.
