Our running round up starts in Redcar and at the North 12 and 6 Stage Relay and Young Athletes 5km.
On a cold and wet April day, our youngsters got us off to the best start with our outstanding U17 girls coming away 1st place overall. The team consisted of Imogen Bungay, Poppy Old and Bella Russell. Imogen and Poppy finishing 2nd and 3rd with Bella in 9th – brilliant stuff girls!
Our U15 boys team were equally impressive, finishing in 4th place overall. The team made up of Sam Allison, Aiden Jones and Liam Coulson – well done lads!
Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough for teams in the U17 boys and U15 girls but that didn’t put off our u17 Bailey Shore who ran an impressive race – well done Bailey and u15 girls Poppy Wilde and Hannah Waterhouse both with superb runs – well done girls!

On to Sunday…
We had a mixture of distances and activities to track from your traditional marathon to duathlon. Luke Hillard racking up more air miles by competing his first marathon at Brighton Marathon. Not tired from his travels, he ran an amazing race, finishing 9th overall and securing his London place for next year. What an incredible run Luke – well done!

Our second marathon runner, Daniel Nettle, currently working and living in France thought he’s showcase Elswick Harriers by running the Paris Marathon. Daniel finishing with a brilliant time of 3:29:28
Back on home soil and normally a popular race for Elswick Harriers, not in the Club Champs and a busy weekend for our members meant the numbers were down slightly with 11 athletes taking on the 10km run.
Lewis Liddle was first home with an amazing run. Lewis finished in 3rd place overall, an impressive sprint finish – no idea where the energy for a sprint finish came from. Brilliant run by Lewis – well done! Jamie Styles was next home with an awesome run, University is not slowing Jamie down, Vice Captain Scott Brady was net up with a very impressive run. Ben Hall was a few minutes after shortly followed by new member John Rippon who was giving the roads a go as training for his next fell race. Lee Coulson was up next with his trade mark ‘leave it all out there’ finish, Peter Sloan followed him home, his first outing as race adjudicator – an impressive run with a clipboard in hand! It was great to see Shaun Connelly running who coasted in next. Mary ‘little legs’ Hall had an amazing run, coming home ahead of running buddy Joanne Webber who is in the depths of her marathon training – well done ladies. Nigel Hollier followed them in with a great run.
Excellent running by everyone, plenty prizes picked up after a good shift!
