Most members racing this time were at Temple Park, South Shields for the North Eastern Counties Athletics Association (NECAA) Cross Country Championships on Saturday 10th December.
And if they weren’t running they had volunteered to run the event because Elswick and Heat Harriers were the organisers.
It was a bitterly cold day on which the running surface was frozen solid for most of the event.
Unlike the NEHL the men run this one first, and Elswick had a good strong team:
| Place | Name | Time |
| 30 | Lewis Liddle | 35:16 |
| 39 | Luke Hilliard | 36:07 |
| 47 | Daniel Spoor | 36:59 |
| 83 | Mark Turnbull | 39:18 |
| 103 | Jonathan Rewcastle | 40:25 |
| 109 | Mike Russell | 41:10 |
| 169 | Simon Allen | 44:15 |
| 224 | Robert Lambert | 48:19 |
| Place | Name | Time |
| 17 | Judith Nutt | 28:14 |
| 22 | Felicity Smith | 28:22 |
| 42 | Catherine Lowes | 29:47 |
| 47 | Andrea Banner | 29:53 |
| 73 | Sara Blight | 31:42 |
| 81 | Rachel Dodds | 32:20 |
| 83 | Debbie Spoor | 32:31 |
Great job everyone, and thank you to everyone who volunteered too.

Next let’s look at the Simonside Cairns Fell Race on Sunday 11th December.
This is 17.7km, or 11 miles if you prefer, of hard going on one of Northumberland’s most popular summer walks.
However, the coldest weekend of the year saw 56 crazy people (show me a runner who isn’t) set off in the ice and snow from Rothbury. This year it had to be rerouted due to the weather and our very own Pete Dawson followed the mainly circular route finishing in 1.51.17, coming in 41st overall.
Well done Pete.
