With the Christmas celebrations and New year parties behind us the next treat for Elswick juniors, guess what ? yes you are correct cross country !!
On what is a course with rolling hills and some very muddy parts at the far end , a few runner’s lost their spikes in the mud.
A good course for spectators. With typical north east weather with a mixture off sun, wind and at times a small amount of rain .The races began with the under 11s these are classed as non competitive!!
Well done to the Elswick Juniors who turned out across the age groups to support the club.
The Sherman Cup was donated to the local cross country league by Sherman’s football pools in 1949. In 2002 former Harrier League secretaries Pam and Ron Davison donated a trophy so that the ladies could compete in a similar competition to the men. All ages apart from u/11s count towards the overall points; these races differed from the Harrier League: No packs – all scratch races.
Thank you to Lee for bringing the tent. Harry and Kim sorting out the beverages and of course all the officials who turnout week after week . Well done to Andrea making the race after just returning from a skiing holiday.
Results as follows overall positions including juniors/seniors and masters ladies teams came 2nd.Mens teams came in 7th.
