Christine Lee may be celebrating freedom day today but she is also celebrating a particular milestone in her life. She is 80 years young!!
Christine has had great success in the time she has been a member of Elswick Harriers. She joined us from Gosforth Harriers and still holds two all time records with North East Masters Athletics Association at 3000 metres.
She has been selected to compete for the England Masters Athletics Association, England team at the annual British & Irish Masters Cross Country International on more than one occasion.
Christine has also enjoyed success in various local road and cross country championships/competitions having gained firsts in the age categories from W55 up to W75.
There can be no doubt about her dedication to our sport. She has been a regular at senior training sessions over many years at the club and still attends training sessions at age 80. More recently, she has been joining sessions at the n2run programme and inspiring the programme members.
