The first NEYDL of the season with Andrea rallying the troops and doing the organising.
Once again we had quite a few athletes competing out of their comfort zones, and some making their track and field debuts.
But thanks to coaches giving up Saturday mornings to practice throws etc and also doing some on club nights to help the juniors try different events.
It was a nice day for competing although a little cooler when the wind got up and clouds covered the sun.
The Elswick contingent were gathered at the top of the track with parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, coaches and fellow athletes were very vocal in support of each other.
It’s great on days like this when we all come together as a team.
We had 23 Elswick Juniors taking part over the course of the day, with 3 or 4 from our good friends from South Shields, who we have a joint team with.

There were 15 clubs taking part although quite a few in compostive teams.
Results for the day
1st Blyth/Alnwick. Points 731
2nd Elswick/South Shields. Points 596
3rd CLS/Durham. Points 547
4th Blaydon/Wallsend/Gos. Points 486
5th New Marske Points 464
6th Morpeth. Points 337

8th Heaton/Tynebridge Points 253

It was a fantastic start to our track and field season. The next meeting is a Whitley Bay on Sunday the 18th May 2025. It would be great to get more athletes out for this meeting, whether you make a day of it and bring a picnic, or just turn up for your events.
If you did not make the last one for whatever reason just ask your mates what a great day it was.
There is no reason with our depth of talent we could first at this event.
