A quieter week for races this week but still plenty people running, this weekend was our third NEHL Cross Country at the picturesque Lambton Estate.
*Edit: Away from the North East; there was no rest for our ladies captain while on holiday as she took on the Playitas Sports Resort 5km and 13km lighthouse race, winning them both – well done Andrea!
We had 55 Elswick Harriers competing from all ages with the juniors (30 juniors) leading the charge, followed by our inspiring ladies (10 of them) team who finished 5th on the day and finally the lads (15 of them) who put in a decent shift.
Lambton is one of the more challenging NEHL courses, with two sharp inclines and two challenging downhills. Underfoot is best described as mixed terrain with sections of tarmac, compacted gravel and grass/mud – it makes for a great course and highlight for many runners.
Our Women’s team finished an impressive 5th place on the day with Cath Lowes gaining promotion to the fast pack in the next fixture.

On to our men; we saw another impressive turn out and some excellent runs with the standout performance being that of Mark Turnbull who was returning after a collarbone break to run into the Medium pack. On the day we finished 10th overall which leaves us at the foot of the Division 1 Table.
