‘It was great to be back competing again after such a long break.
Three Elswick junior girls competed in the 800m track event at the NECCA open meeting at King Edward VI school, Morpeth this afternoon.
All three u15 girls had fantastic runs in mixed gender/age group heats, competing against clubs from across the North East and Cumbria.
Poppy Old was 1st U15 girl in 2:23.47 (pb) coming 3rd in her mixed gender/age group heat.
Lucy Milburn was 3rd U15 girl in 2:27.97 (pb) winning her heat in a very strong finish.
Imogen Bungay was 5th U15 girl in 2:30.94 (pb) 2nd in her heat, with a fantastic strong finish over the line.
Poppy Old was the 3rd fastest female overall.
The girls as a team stood out as a very strong force amongst the other North East and Cumbrian clubs.
There was a great atmosphere at the event with all officials encouraging all the athletes on the day and athletes congratulating one another, clearly glad to be back competing.
NECAA have another event in 2 weeks time at Kin Edward School, Morpeth and would encourage anyone interested, both Juniors and Seniors to sign up (necaa.weebly.com)

Thanks to Kerrie and Susanne for the report.
Well done again girls and this is so inspirational for all our Juniors who are all doing so well through these times and improving with their own running. This will hopefully be the start of more to come for our Juniors so that they can put their fantastic training to good effect for their own personal achievement. Please see link to the next NECAA event above when it would be great to see others signing up. Junior Coaches.

Well done girls for the record Poppy has the 37th fastest time in the UK this year. Lucy has the 87th fastest time and Imogen the 118th fastest time all in the under 15 age category.
