Words from Jan & Ken. Photos from Claire. After two successive cancellations the harrier league finally got underway again. For those of us hoping for a break in the weather it was not to be. In what was cold rainy and very muddy conditions 30 Elswick juniors braved the elements, fully supported by coaches and parents. Due to illness and other commitments a good few junior athletes were unable to compete. This is not the courses that you see on televised events with manicured fields with the odd log thrown in to jump over. This course was what the traditionalists call “real cross country “ mud, with rolling hills, long grass and tight parts of the course Mud, mud, glorious mud Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood So follow me, follow Down to the hollow and there let us wallow in glorious mud.

Thanks to Richard and Ann Lee for bringing and Claire helping to put up the club tent. Which was a god send considering the conditions. Thanks to all the officials and organisers who braved the awful weather. Well done to all our juniors who turned out to run and represent Elswick and their parents.
