What a surprise!

A mysterious email was sent to all the run leaders by Women’s Team Vice Captain Robyn Naylor last week

It said that she had something she really needed to discuss with us all about the club so could we have a pre-session, socially distanced, and very quick chat.

Bearing in mind that we abide by the UKA guidance, we managed to just fit ourselves outside Elswick Activity Centre as requested.

Earlier in the day Kim Matthews, one of the coaches for the juniors, asked me what on earth it could be, what this was all about? I could only admit that I was also totally perplexed and had no clue what this highly confidential issue could be.

With everyone duly assembled at a distance from each other, Robyn launched into her speech.

“It’s been a truly difficult year for running, but you guys have kept us motivated and training no matter what. Even when we could only do it alone or in family groups”, she said.

She then thanked us all on behalf of the committee and club members, and presented each of the LiRFs, CiRF’s, and Coaches with a lovely box of choccy biccies – Belgian chocolate, no less.

It was a lovely surprise, and I’d like to say a resounding thank you on behalf of all the run leaders who were kept in the dark until the presentation.
