Yorkshire Coast 10km – Scarborough

Jumping back to last week, our speedy couple Ben Ward and Sarah Platten were in action at the Scarborough 10km.
They both ran very well, Ben 37.12 (16th place) and Sarah making the headlines finishing with a time of 38.59, finishing 2nd female overall. Good prep for Lambton for the pair…

Rome Half Marathon
Also, last weekend, Roland who is fond of run abroad and the odd vino travelled to Rome for their half marathon.
Roland ran well finishing in 1.41 – impressive given the ‘lack of sleep’
Run Northumberland Castles Half Marathon
Another one I missed was on the Northumberland coast, we had one runner taking part in the tricky half marathon around Bamburgh.
Scott Carruthers clocked a good time of 1.45 around the country roads.
NEHL Fixture 3: Lambton Estate
Numbers were slightly down from the previous fixtures, but we still saw good numbers and some exciting racing with great performances.
Our 32 juniors got us underway as always, shout out to Madison Carr who ran his first race for the club in the u17 race. Madison has been tearing up the tarmac with our seniors since coming down to training – keep up the good work Madison!
Our 12 strong ladies were next up and once again running very well – Justina, Felicity, Sarah and Debbie made up the first counting team with the others packing well to give the ladies a good chance of scoring well this week.
Our 15 men ran well with our first three over the line gaining promotion for the next fixture. Ben Ward led us home securing a promotion to medium pack, Kirk Haddon had another storming run to gain promotion to fast pack and Jonny Rewcastle was back running well to gain promotion to medium pack. Mark Turnbull, Joe Green and John Rippon were our next counters. Like the ladies, the remaining lads backed up the team well to keep us in the hunt for a team promotion at the end of the year.
Next up is Wrekenton where we could do with a big turn out to keep our hopes of promotion for the men and women’s teams.
