Brampton to Carlisle
We had 3 athletes running the famous 10 mile road race – one of, if not the oldest around.
Athletes start out on a short downhill before running out of Brampton up and along the country lan a to Carlisle, a brilliant course for a 10 mile PB.
In a stacked race our 3 fellas ran very well, and looking at their times secured PB’s. Mick Wilson was our first home rounding off an incredible road season with a time of 61 mins, Joe Horner wasn’t too far behind running 63 mins and Dan Edgar ran great finishing in a time of 69 mins.
Gibside Fruit Bowl

Our penultimate club championship race and final one in 2025 saw 23 of our athletes in action. It was great to see Andy Middleton and Jeff Emmerson running.

Highlight of the day was Dan Milton’s dominant run finishing first place overall, running 45 mins over the 7 mile hill course. Dan was rewarded with an impressive hard carved bow full of fruit!

It was a perfect day for running the trails of Gibside – a beautiful location for a race and so nice to see plenty Elswick vests. Brilliant to Imogen Bungay back in fine form finishing 12th overall and second female – brilliant run by young Imogen.

Loads of photos have been posted on our facebook page.

2026/2027 Club Championships – early notice
We’ve reduced the number of races slightly, included an internal race (helpers might be required), and hoping to have the Jelly T (Tynedale’s 10 miler) back.
If any races are cancelled we’ll try and find a suitable replacement or hold an internal race.
Races:
*March – Cowbell (5km) if no XC
April – Blyth (10k)
**May – Internal (3km or 5km TBC)
June – Rest
July – Sunderland (5km)
August – Jelly T (10 miles)
September – Rest
October – Rest – use for cancellations
November – Heaton Memorial (10km)
December – Saltwell (10km)
January – Rest
February – Sherman Cup/Davision Shield (off road)
26/27 Rules: Best 2 5km, 2 10km, 1 long/off road
Note: if a suitable like for like race can not be found, our replacement race will be ‘assumed’ the category in which it replaced i.e. an internal 5km replaces a 10 mile run, the replacement 5km race will count for the ‘long run’ points/standings.
*If Cowbell clashes with XC (very likely) we do a 3km track on a Saturday in May or June, date to be confirmed.
**If Cowbell goes ahead, we change the May 5km to a 3km on the track.
***Watergate is a popular 5km which we can consider for a backup race
